How to update game
-Mount ISO image on virtual drive or burn image to DL DVD to install
-Update game using patch #3. Download patch, double click the “GearsPC_TU3_Microsoft.exe” to install.
-use 1.2 crack, apply “Startup.exe” in crack folder to game installed directory
Click “yes’ to replace file.
-Play the Game!

To play online, you’ll need a retail cd key number. To save your game in single player mode, simply press “HOME” in the main menu to open the Games for Windows Live panel. In that panel you should be able to create an offline Live account, enabling you to save your game.
Common problems:
This is a reply I found. Note the date change is “before” the 3rd patch was released in early Feb. It worked for some.
Simply set ur time to January 28,2009 1am. This is a temporary fix and it cant work with windows xp for some reason but it works great with vista.
PS. Gears of war isnt the only game effected by this exe error also check unreal tournament 3
This is the response I got from Microsoft. “As I understand, while launching the game, you receive an error message stating C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\Binaries\wargame-g4wlive.exe: You cannot run the game with modified executable code. Please reinstall the game. It seems this issue is with the game servers and we are working towards resolution. We do not know when the issue will be resolved.”
I have installed the game,cracked it,and when I try to start it, it says :C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\Binaries\wargame-g4wlive.exe: You cannot run the game with modified executable code. Please reinstall game.

set your system date back to before 28-01-09 (date of patch #3) or download patch TU3.
